History: Once the daughter of a well-known tailor in Baton Rouge, her home was raided when she was young. She was brought up as a backroom seamstress. At age eighteen, she left and sought refuge, finding a job as a waitress and barmaid for a few years before finally beginning to make the dresses she sold for a time. Walking home from her shop in Baton Rouge, she was caught and turned.
She soon closed up her shop, bringing only a few of her dresses and several of her design books with her to New Orleans.
